Welcome to 8rary: Shaping a New World for Deaf Esport

At 8temporary, we believe in breaking boundaries and creating opportunities for all players, especially those from the deaf community, to thrive in esports. Our mission is born from the dreams, challenges, and relentless passion of four incredible players, each of whom faced obstacles that many would consider insurmountable. But instead of giving up, they’ve come together to pave the way for a new era in competitive gaming—one that is inclusive, empowering, and deaf-centric.

Allow us to introduce the founders behind this vision:

### **Janos-Calvin Giuranna: Pioneering the Deaf Fortnite Scene**

Once ranked among the Top 1000 Fortnite players in Europe, Janos distinguished himself not only through his exceptional skills but also through his determination as one of the top deaf players in the game. He watched his brother Jason and close friend Dylan narrowly miss advancing to the finals of the Winter Cups, falling short by just a few points. This inspired Janos to pursue competitive gaming. He later joined them, and as a trio, they achieved tremendous success in ranked play, amassing over 18,000 points in Division 10 and competing in numerous high-level tournaments.

### **Dario Drexler: The All-Rounder with Unmatched Grit**

Dario is a true gaming all-rounder, excelling in various titles, but his passion for competitive play found its home in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Joining the Danish organization Globen E-Sport, Dario climbed the ranks to Global Elite and achieved Faceit Level 8. Though he had the skill to reach even higher, his time was limited. Unfortunately, Globen E-Sport dissolved its CS:GO division due to rising audism and discrimination against deaf players, even though Dario was ranked among the Top 500 players in the game *The Finals*.

Despite his incredible skill, Dario faced the same barrier that so many deaf players encounter—constant discouragement from playing alongside hearing competitors. But he never lost hope. His determination is now focused on creating a future where deaf players are respected, valued, and provided with the same opportunities as everyone else.

### **Tobias Gravogl: The Player Who Sacrificed for His Team**

Tobias was an elite CS:GO player, boasting both the Global Elite rank and Faceit Level 9. His team rose to the second league of CS:GO esports in Austria, and soon a professional organization offered them contracts. However, when this organization learned that Tobias was deaf, they retracted their offer, seeing no future for a deaf player in their ranks.

Tobias’s teammates wanted to stand by him, but the organization made it clear—if they didn’t sever ties, none of them would get a contract. Tobias, always a team player, made the difficult decision to step down, giving his teammates the chance to pursue their dreams. Now, he’s channeling that same selflessness into building a brighter future for deaf players in esports.

### **Maximilian Bystrov: Born to Compete, Determined to Change the Game**

Maximilian’s journey began with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, where he thrived in the trickshot and quickscope scenes. Though unaware of esports at the time, his talent was undeniable. By the time he discovered competitive gaming during the Cold War era, he formed a team and quickly rose through the ranks.

Despite his team’s success, they suffered a heartbreaking loss in one of GameBattles’ biggest events. The tournament promised a path to the Call of Duty League (CDL), but that opportunity never materialized. When Maximilian reached out to the winning team to understand why they hadn’t pursued the CDL, one player’s brutal honesty changed his perspective: *“Your deaf team won’t get far in the CDL. It’s an audio-centric game, and without sound, you’re at a major disadvantage.”* He also realized that CDL esports is a *big-money pool* where professional players are hired to compete, with limited opportunities for teams outside of these big organizations to join.

Maximilian realized that the increasing reliance on audio in competitive gaming, especially in first-person shooters, presented a significant barrier for deaf players. But instead of walking away, he chose to fight for a future where all players—regardless of hearing ability—can compete at the highest level.

**Our Mission: A New Era for Deaf Esport**

These four pioneers share more than just skill—they share a dream that was once shattered by the limitations of an industry that wasn’t built for them. But rather than give up, they’ve united to create something greater than themselves.

8temporary was founded to provide a platform for deaf players to shine in the world of esports. While the Deaflympics and some deaf-specific tournaments exist, esports has yet to truly embrace this community. 8rary is taking the first step in changing that. We are dedicated to building a global, deaf-focused esports ecosystem where players can compete, collaborate, and achieve their dreams without barriers.

**This is our vision, and we invite you to join us in making it a reality.**
